Five dead as gunmen invade Southern Kaduna village

Suspected gunmen have killed five people and injured three others in an attack on Ramin Daji, a southern Kaduna village.

Gunmen invaded the village, near Kagoro in Kaura Local Government Area, at night and shot at the village vigilance group. The attack is coming barely two weeks after a similar attack at Kukum Daji, near Kagoro, where one person was killed and two injured.

It occurred few weeks after the last unrest in Kafanchan, which led to the imposition of a curfew in the area.

In a phone chat with reporters, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Kaura Local Government Area, Mrs. Florence Aya, said: "The vigilantes in the village had assembled to start patrolling around 9.30pm on Monday when, suddenly, some people, who were lying in a bush nearby, opened fire on them.

"They could do nothing about it, since they were not carrying fire arms. While the vigilantes tried to ward off the attackers, the invaders entered the village and shot at the residents. They also inflicted machete cuts on them, killing five.

"They also cornered a woman carrying an infant and cut them down. You need to see the injuries on the woman and her infant. But by some miracle, the baby and mother survived.
"They are now under intensive care in a hospital whose name I will not tell you now. Two others, who were shot, are critically ill. They are also receiving treatment. Let's pray for them as they
receive treatment.

"But, even as they came with guns, some of the vigilantes were able to injure one. He escaped, leaving a trail of blood. As I speak with you, the youth and the police are searching the bushes for him. This is very sad. We need more security here."

Police spokesman Aminu Lawan, a Divisional Superintendent iof Police (DSP), confirmed the attack and the deaths.
He said investigations have begun into the incident.
Lawan said: "Are you saying raid or attack? In the Police Force, there is a difference between raid and attack. So, which one? If you call it an attack, yes;
there was, and five people died."

Nigerian prophet who claims to exorcise evil spirits with his penis, arrested

A self-styled Nigerian prophet, Efe Ese, who claims he specialises in exorcising evil spirits with his penis, has found himself in the grips of the police after stealing from one of his victims.

Efe, by his trade, hypnotised women he prophesied to and lured them into believing that they were tormented by evil spirits. He told them he had to have sex with them so he could exorcise all the demons which, he claimed, were responsible for all their misfortunes.

The lid was however blown off his activities when he bolted with a digital camera and a laptop computer during a prayer session with one of his victims after a hot bout of sex.

The Divisional Crime Officer of Tesano, ASP Stephen Donyina Kyeremeh, said on Wednesday December 7, 2011, at about 5pm, the suspect met one of his victims at Alajo where she was about
boarding a bus.
He confronted her with some prophesies of happenings in her life which she admitted were true.

The sexy prophet then continued that the lady needed prayers urgently so they had to return to her abode.
The lady aborted her errand and took the strange man to her house at Alajo.

In the cause of the prayer, the self-styled prophet managed to convince his victim to have sex with him in order to exorcise some evil spirits which were presumably tormenting her life.
After satisfying his libido, this dialogue took place:

Prophet: Which of your possessions is very dear to your heart?
Lady: My digital camera and my laptop computer. They are gifts from a relation abroad.
Prophet: The items were possessed by some evil spirits before they were sent to you.

The camera and the laptop ought to be cleansed because according to the prophet, they were the remote causes of her problem, telling her to bring them.
His victim, like a lamb being taken to the slaughter slab, obediently brought the items and another prayer session began.

While the victim was busily praying, the suspect bolted with the computer and the laptop.
In the middle of the prayer, the woman opened her eyes and to her shock, she was alone.
After several hours of waiting, she gave up until a week later, Wednesday, December 14, when Ese called the woman on her phone.

The sexy prophet, who did not know that his plan had been uncovered, told his victim that he had seriously been working on exorcising the evil spirits from the two items but the spirits were so recalcitrant so he would need another bout of sex to speed up the process.

The victim, who had then become aware of the suspect's intentions, informed the police who ambushed him.
At the appointed time, when Efe showed up, he was arrested and whisked to the Tesano Divisional Police Station where he admitted to the offence and handed over the camera and the laptop to the police.
A search through the camera showed nude photographs of several women suspected to be his victims.
ASP Kyeremeh said while the police was yet to charge him, a female caller who was later invited to the police station came to corroborate a similar event between her and the suspect.

The second victim told the police she had come to remit the suspect, adding that usually after their sex escapades and prayers, she remitted the sexy
pastor for his effort in exorcising the so-called evil spirits which she was made to believe tormented her.

"How I was raped by an aunt at 13" - IcePrince

The rap artist tells Sunday-Express in an interview released yesterday Dec 18th...

I had my first sexual encounter at 13. It's something I regret whatever it was. I had this aunty, though we were not related, she was just a neighbour who was living close to us, who came into my room and slept with me. She just came into my room and just forced me to do it with her. I was so young and innocent and she made me lose my innocence. It wasn't a sweet experience at all. I was very scared. I saw hell. It was a terrible experience. I am not excited talking about it at all. Sex is not that good. I think sex is overrated. The aunt who slept with me is still alive. But I haven't seen her since then."

Shame on you aunt, whoever you are!

Gov Fashola, what are you doing to Lagosians? What is this?

Lekki Phase1 Tollgate began charging on Sunday 18th December...just a day after residents of the area protested the forceful imposition of toll by the
Lagos State Govt in collaboration with Lagos Concession Company, alleged owned by former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.

The traffic created by this toll was unbelievable, as it took at least 45minutes to move a distance of 50m from the toll gate through to the other side.

The N120 charged vehicles made things more frustrating as it became a big challenge to give people their change. If it's this bad on a Sunday, what will happen on week days? The toll rates charged are as follows: Motorbikes - N50. Sedans - N120. Vans/small buses/Suvs - N150. Commercial buses - N80. Light trucks and two axle buses - N250. Heavy duty trucks - N350.

Gov Fashola, why are you letting this happen?

What can Lagosians do to stop this?

A 20-year-old reprimanded for stealing groundnut kills his father with an axe

WHEN his wife, Fatsuma, was delivered of a baby boy some 20 years ago in the sleepy hamlet of Larabawa, in Gwaram Local Council of Jigawa State, Mamman
Dan Alhaji, the proud father, celebrated.

Neighbours had trooped in to grace the naming ceremony as they rejoiced with Mamman who was very happy he had an heir that would carry on the family name and continue his groundnut business later.

However, that bundle of joy has turned into a bundle of regrets, tears and sorrow for his mother, as the boy, who was named Yusuf, has allegedly snuffed life out of his own father for reprimanding him over theft of the groundnut.

A weeping Fatsuma, told The Guardian: "Please, tell the authorities not to allow him come back alive."

She continued: "I can't describe the misfortune that has befallen me. I don't know what came over my son whom I carried in my womb for nine months.

" On that fateful day, he went to the market after his father left home and I thought he had some business to do.

"He returned around noon with a shiny axe, which he held as he sat on the stone in the middle of the compound and was still sharpening it.

"After sharpening the axe, he put it in a bag and became restless, walking up and down, without talking to anybody.

"I went to him and asked him what the matter was and why he was still sharpening an axe that he already took to the market to sharpen, pointing out
too that he looked restless. But, he said he was alright."

Meanwhile, Yusuf on Wednesday morning had sent his wife home to her parents without his parents knowledge.

It was when Fatsuma called her daughter-in-law that Yusuf told his mother he had sent her home to her
parents.

"At a point, he came and sat down in front of his father's door with the axe and stick. I called my mate and told her that this boy was up to something but
she advised we should leave him alone.

"At about 4.00 p.m. I left the house to see his father and to tell him not to come home because his son was up to something sinister."

She said when her son noticed she was out of the compound he ran and caught up with her and demanded to know whether she was going to the market to see his father for which she answered in
the affirmative.

According to her, he immediately started pleading that she should come back home because he was all right.

She recalled that her husband arrived around 9.00p.m. and shortly after, tragedy struck.

"When our husband returned, Yusuf refused to greet him. After he took his meal, I told him how his son had been acting strangely since morning, walking
about with axe and stick.

"The father came out and asked why he was doing that but he rudely replied he was waiting for the police he threatened to arrest him with.

" At this point, his father stood up and took his stick to scare him to go inside his room but Yusuf dodged but started hacking his father with the axe.

"When we heard our husband shouting: 'Yusuf, why are you killing me? Is it because I reprimanded you? 'we rushed outside only to see Yusuf running after his fleeing father and continuing to hack him with the now-bloody axe.

"We were shouting and crying but before the neighbours came, Yusuf had killed his father."

The neighbours were shocked that a grown-up like Yusuf, who was expected to give his father a helping hand in his business, would resort to stealing his groundnuts.

They had seen Mamman Dan Alhaji that Wednesday morning as he prepared for the market not knowing that would be his last.

For sometime, Mamman Dan Alhaji had been unhappy that his son was not turning out as he had hoped.

The previous day, he had reprimanded Yusuf for stealing his groundnuts and had threatened to report him to the police if he did not stop. Little did he know that his son would kill him for that!

Now in police custody, Yusuf has not shown any remorse.

He claimed that his father also meant to kill him but gave thanks to God that he was the one who killed his father first.

The late Mamman 's second wife, Abou told The Guardian their husband reprimanded Yusuf on Tuesday for stealing his groundnuts from the barn.

"His father's threat to arrest Yusuf was just to scare him because he was tired of his groundnuts being stolen.

We never knew that that would cost the life of ourbreadwinner.

"Here we are with 10 children and our breadwinner gone. We don't have any other source of livelihood.

"The money in the house has been used for transporting the corpse from here to police and back and for transporting Yusuf to Dutse and all that. We need help," she pleaded.

The Mai Angwan Larabawa, Alhaji Abdul Ali expressed shock over the incident.

" Never before in my entire life had I witnessed or seen a thing like this.

"A neighbour rushed here to inform us of what was happening. I quickly mobilized other neighbours around 9:30p.m. and we rushed there. To our greatest surprise, this boy didn't run away.

"He was standing on the corpse of his father with blood dripping from the axe. His father was wriggling in his own blood.

In shock, I asked him: 'Did you do this? 'and he said 'Yes' and that he had no regret.

"He said if his father had the opportunity he would have killed him but he thanked God that he was the one who killed his father first.

"He said anything we wanted to do to him we should go ahead and do it.

"I was speechless. He almost removed his father's limbs.

"He cut his father's throat, neck, mouth and shoulder.

"It was a horrible sight nobody could stand without crying.

"The boy has no mental case. He is just a stubborn boy, period."

Yusuf's grandfather, Malam Dan Alhaji told The Guardian he hopes his grandson would be hanged.

"I am over 70 years old and I have never seen a son hacking down his own father like an animal. Even an animal does not deserve this type of death.

"I will leave a will behind that if I die and they allow this boy to go free, my people should hunt him down and kill him. If I am alive, he will have to kill me too. I am old. How do I take care of 10 young children?

Government should help me," he pleaded.

A 72-year-old man jailed for raping his 94-year-old mother

In a bizarre incident that has left villagers in Dete shell-shocked, a 72-year-old man was convicted for raping his 94-year-old mother.
Naison Zulu of Stand number 49 Mtuya township in Dete was found guilty of contravening section 65 of Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act chapter 9:23 rape, when he appeared before Regional Magistrate Mrs Dambudzo Malunga.
According to the State led by Miss Memory Munsaka, on 7 July 2011 at around 10 pm Zulu gained entry into his mother, Alice Dube’s bedroom hut while she slept.
He got into her blankets and lay on top of her.
Dube woke up and asked him what he was doing, whereupon Zulu used one hand to cover her mouth while the other forced her legs apart.
He proceeded to rape her once. She managed to cry out for help and a neighbour came to her rescue finding Zulu still in the bedroom.
In his defence, Zulu who is the first born in the family denied raping his mother saying he was awakened by her shouts.
He said he responded from his hut by asking what the matter was but received no answer. It was only later that he decided to investigate but after hearing his calling from the neighbour’s house he returned to sleep.
After 20 minutes he claimed two men began to assault him after he responded to their knock, accusing him of raping his mother.
However, during cross-examination Zulu shifted goalposts arguing that he delayed in responding to his mother’s shouts for help because he got angry that she had called out to her neighbour instead of him.
The State however proved beyond reasonable doubt that Zulu had indeed raped his mother.
He was slapped with a 15-year prison term.

65-years-old Australian Woman held hostage by 27-years-old Nigerian lover

A 65-YEAR-OLD Australian woman was locked up inside an apartment by her 27-year-old Nigerian boyfriend and two other roommates in Seremban, China Press reported. The woman from Sydney, who had known the man via a social network website, was asked to pay A$20,000 (S$27,000) for her freedom.
Eventually, she managed to e-mail a friend in Australia, who then alerted the Australian High Commission and the police.
Police later raided the place and rescued her. The three men were detained.
She was sent to the Seremban Hospital for a medical check-up.
It was reported that she was on her third trip here after previous visits in May and August.

On Anti-Gay bill: “Go back to School” Soyinka tells Nigerian Legislators

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has asked lawmakers in the National Assembly to go back to school in order to clearly understand the difference between public and private affairs.
Professor Soyinka made this statement in response to a bill banning same-sex marriages which was recently passed by the Nigerian Senate.
He said, “The problem with legislators is that they fail to distinguish between personal bills and interventions in private lives. That is the problem. I see no reason why they should intervene in the private lives of adults. What people do in their bedrooms is no business of mine. It should not be the business of legislators.
“But at the same time, I think other countries who are pointing fingers should look inwards and see whether they also do not practise the same kind of discrimination. That is where I disagree, but I think it is important we learn to distinguish between what is a public affair and what is a private affair.
“The legislators need to go back to school to learn the difference before they waste their time with what people do in their private bedrooms.”
Do you agree with Professor Wole Soyinka?
