Bad Boy Stranggle Innocent Mother To Death!

A 28-year old man, Segun Bakare has been charged to Ijeshatedo Magistrate’s court, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria for killing his mother, Mrs. Kudirat Bakare.

Segun was alleged to have used a rope and strangled Kudirat while she was asleep.

While Kudirat was struggling to save her life, Segun ensured that she died by using a broken bottle to stab her.

The incident happened at 3, Musa Street, Mushin, Lagos, in their family house.

The circumstance that led Segun to murder Kudirat was not clear yet. However, P.M.NEWS gathered that Segun had a quarrel with the late Kudirat after which he left their house.

Later, he returned while his mother was asleep and reportedly tied her neck with a rope and strangled her, broke a bottle and stabbed her all over her body.

She bled profusely and died before she could be taken to hospital. After that, Segun attempted to escape but he was held by their neighbours who handed him to the police.

The police later charged him to court.

Part of the charge reads: “That you, Segun Bakare did kill Mrs. Kudirat Bakare by stabbing her to death.”

The offence, according to the police, was contrary to section 319 of the criminal code cap 38, vol. 2 laws of Lagos state of Nigeria 2004.

When the matter came up at the court, the prosecutor, Inspector Ezekiel Ayorinde, informed the court that the nature of the crime was a capital offence and sought the permission of the court to seek the DPP’s advice.

Consequently, the presiding magistrate, Mrs. D. T. Olalokun ordered that he should be remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Apapa, Lagos pending when the DPP’s advice would be ready.

The matter was adjourned.

Amy Winehouse Died From Drinking Too Much Alcohol

According to the long-awaited coroner's inquest into the sudden death of Amy Winehouse at 27; the singer passed away after consuming an excessive amount of booze.

The report stated that Amy died of "misadventure," since she voluntarily put the liquor into her system.

The unintended consequence of such potentially fatal levels (of alcohol) was her sudden and unexpected death," the coroner wrote.

Winehouse's blood-alcohol content at the time of her death was 416 milligrams, over five times the legal limit, Reuters reports.


Depending on body type, a blood-alcohol content of 350 milligrams is when fatal alcohol poisoning could occur. Winehouse's ability to imbibe freely was reduced significantly after the singer quit drinking entirely in July, so when the sudden flood of alcohol reentered her system, the shock was too much for her body to handle. The toxicology report also confirmed that no illegal substances were found in the singer's system at the time of her death.

John Onyenaychi, UK Based Nigerian, Jailed For Life For Stabbing Police Officers

A man has been jailed for a minimum of 25 years for the attempted murder of two police officers in west London.

John Onyenaychi cut PC Paul Madden's throat and slashed at community support officer Piotr Dolata in Ealing.

The Old Bailey heard the attack was the culmination of a five-day crime spree by the 30-year-old last December.

Onyenaychi, of Wise Road, Stratford, east London, was found guilty of two counts of attempted murder and of attacking a third officer.

As well as the attempted murder charges, Onyenaychi, who received a life sentence, was convicted of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, robbery and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

The court heard the defendant cut PC Madden's throat as people watched and then lashed out with his knife at other officers who tried to restrain him.

PC Madden's life was saved by retired heart surgeon Samad Tadjkarimi who happened to pass the scene as he was Christmas shopping.

Mr Tadjkarimi, who had retired from Harefield Hospital three weeks earlier, told the court he saw the officer lying on the ground with "lots of dark blood on the right side of his neck".

"I turned my attention to him immediately and I compressed his neck, holding it," he said.

"It's my duty, I guess. I'm sure anyone in my profession would do the same.

"It's very humbling that my intervention perhaps contributed to the outcome of possibly saving his life - a very brave young officer."

PC Madden, 23, received emergency surgery for injuries to his neck, throat and face. He was left with permanent scarring.

The Recorder of London, Judge Peter Beaumont, said Onyenaychi had not shown any remorse.

He added: "He used a knife on the face and neck of a police officer who was doing his job.

"Paul Madden would have died with 2-3 minutes - such was the loss of his blood - without the help he received from the passing retired doctor."

The jury heard that minutes before the attack, Onyenaychi had become agitated when challenged about his ticket on a bus in New Broadway.

Support officers called to the scene recognised him as a man who was wanted for a previous attack.

PC Madden, who thought Onyenaychi might be armed, was stabbed as he tried to arrest him.

The trial heard the defendant was on licence at the time, having been jailed for two years for causing death by dangerous driving while under the influence of drugs.

He had previously attacked a prison officer, using a pencil as a homemade weapon, and committed other violent offences.

Det Ch Insp John McFarlane said: "He is one of the most dangerous men in Britain."

He refused to come out of his cell throughout his trial.

Rachael Oniga Denies Cover Up Of Baba Suwe’s Drug Case By Some Top Nollywood Actors

For some days now, top Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, who is well known as Baba Suwe has been in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for an alleged drug ingestion offence.

Though the development has been very messy, especially in the first seven days the veteran comic actor had been with the drug enforcement agency, but the new turn of event had made it messier.

Before now, there had been insinuations around that some big wigs in the society who might be linked with the drug offence were fighting hard to die down the case just as it has been allegedly done in the time past.

In some quarters, there were the believe that some top Nollywood heavyweights were trying to cover up for Baba Suwe by making sure he was not expose, and also making a compromise on the issue with some powers that be in high places.

Those insinuating this believe have it that confirming Baba Suwe with the suspected substance would dent the image of the industry, especially for those who enjoy the goodwill of being a celebrity to by-pass the stringent airport searches. This was what they are trying to avoid.

But in a reaction to this insinuation, top Nollywood actress, Rachael Oniga has come out to debunk such believe. According to her, “the point I must tell you is that the serious and professionals among the actors don’t do drugs or get involved in drugs. So, there is no reason for any cover up by some of us to sweep the case under carpet. To my own knowledge, there is nothing of such.”

Those in the know had alleged that some big wigs in the make-believe industry are seriously fighting hard not to expose Baba Suwe of an alleged attempt to traffic substances suspected to be narcotic drug out of the country when he was arrested some days ago by the NDLEA operatives at the Lagos airport.

This insinuation was further buttressed in a press release by the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) on Thursday October 20, when the former president of the body, Prince Jide Kosoko said, “the unethical proceedings (of NDLEA) have not only brought untold humiliation, bad press and unprecedented public outcry against Baba Suwe; it has equally brought our industry and all theatre practitioners into public odium.

Everybody in the industry is now seen as a potential drug pusher. This is a tag we reject in its totality. We do not dispute the fact that there are bound to be a few bad ones in a large professional grouping but we make bold to say that we are not drug pushers but hardworking professionals, who have worked hard to earn decent living and the good name we presently enjoy.”........

4 students, 3 others die in Abeokuta tragedies

ABEOKUTA—Two separate accidents that claimed a total of seven lives, Wednesday, brought Abeokuta to a stand still. Of the seven victims, four were students said to be on religious retreat. Four  students of the Apostolic Church Students Fellowship of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic chapter, Abeokuta were reportedly drowned in a river  beside the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta where they were  holding a seven- day prayer and fasting retreat.
The second, a auto crash, occurred in Kemta, along Olabisi Onabanjo way, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta. A total of 13 vehicles and two motorcycles were involved. Three lives were lost while  four others including a four-year old boy were  seriously  injured..
According to reports, the prayer coordinator in the first incident, who is an eye witness is being detained at the Police Station, Lafenwa Divisional Headquarters, Lafenwa Abeokuta.
It was gathered that the leadership embarked on 7 days prayer and fasting retreat, the first face of which held at the fellowship building, in Oluwo Abeokuta before proceeding to the venue of the accident.
A member of the church who spoke on anonymity said, it was a day before the retreat ended when members decided to take their bath in a river nearby. The source disclosed that the female members had finished bathing when the male decided to swim not knowing that the river was very deep.
All efforts to discuss with the detained prayer coordinator proved abortive as the police officers at the station said it is only their boss, who was not available could authourise it.
It was  gathered that one of the deceased whose name was given as Lekan, an ND II student of Business Administration was a Muslim but only accepted to join the fellowship about two weeks ago.
Other deceased were simply identified as Ebenezer of Elect/Elect Department, Olamide of Architectural Department and Nifemi who was studying Mass Communication.
It was gathered, as at time of this report that only three bodies had been recovered from the river while the fourth was still missing.
The three bodies have been deposited at a morgue in an undisclosed hospital in Abeokuta
The second  accident occurred at Idi-Aba around noon, following a break failure by a truck with number plate XS 708 JJJ which  crushed about twelve vehicles which were on coming, killing some occupants.
The vehicles affected include a gold coloured car marked  Lagos ES 655 AAA, a Coaster bus, XZ 718 MUS and two motorcycles.

47 Years Old Man Impregnates 13 Years Old Girl Left In His Care

The police in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, have arrested and arraigned a 47-year old man, Akah Nkereuwem Udoh, for allegedly impregnating his sister’s 13-year-old daughter who was living with him.

After impregnating the little girl, he offered to marry the victim at the Igando police station as a condition to settle the matter, even though the victim is the daughter of his blood sister.

The incident occurred at 31, Rauf Adebiyi Street, Igando, on the outskirts of lagos.

The Akwa Ibom state-born Udoh is now facing charges of sexually abusing the girl at the Ejigbo magistrate’s court, Lagos.

He was said to have gone to his village and promised his sister, Mrs. Blessing Bassey, that he would take one of her daughters to Lagos and send her to school, a request her sister gladly accepted.

Udoh then brought the victim to Lagos under false pretence of sending her to school and they started living together with his wife and two children at Igando, Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered that not quite long after he brought her to Lagos, he seduced her and started having sex with her without his wife’s knowledge.

He warned the girl not to tell anybody about it.

He reportedly returns home to have sex with the girl when his wife leaves for work.

This continued until he impregnated the girl and kept her somewhere to conceal the pregnancy.

Trouble began for Udoh when members of the victim’s family were contacted and they demanded to see the victim.

He initiatially refused to disclose where he kept the girl until state welfare officials intervened and contacted the police.

The police arrested Udoh and took him to the station where he confessed to what happened and promised to marry the pregnant girl.

The promise, however, did not deter the police from charging him to court.......

Assault on Female Students of St. Annes Secondary School, Molete Ibadan.

Men forced their way into the hostels of St. Annes Secondary School, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday night and raped four female students to coma. Three of the students are in senior secondary school, SSS, while the fourth one is in the junior secondary school, JSS.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. when the miscreants scaled the fence of the girls school while the students were fast asleep. They descended on their victims unmolested. 

Daily Champion gathered that the rapists who were fully armed with dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, iron bars and charms, gained entry into the hostels through the back fence, thus beating the guards on duty.

They were said to have assaulted the head teacher, while most of the girls in the hostels were similarly beaten before being raped.

Our source said that the security guard at the main gate was unaware of the incident as the rapists prevented the girls from raising alarm, by scaring them with the dangerous weapons. The rapists later fled the scene, after which the head teacher took the girls to a nearby hospital. St. Annes School, Molete harbours five schools with a principal each.

One of the principals, who spoke under anonymity, said that this is not the first time miscreants will be coming to rape school girls in Molete area in Ibadan.

"This is a kind of thing that has been happening in the school which was not  revealed to the public. In fact, similar thing happened only two months ago," she said.

According him, efforts by the school’s authorities to beef up security at the school had not yielded positive result as hoodlums kept coming to the hostels to rape the girls.

Meanwhile, the assaulted girls are being treated at a hospital in Ibadan (names withheld), while the hospital management promised to conduct series of tests on them.

A doctor in charge of the hospital confirmed that four students were brought in with severe injuries while 2 were in a near coma. He however stated that they had been responding to treatment.

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Bashiru Azeez, reacting to the incident, directed that security be beefed up at the school, while he urged the Police area commander to "fish out the rapists at all costs." ...........
