The
Kings Square, venue of the musical carnival, which is in the heart of
the state capital was filled to capacity, spilling over to the adjoining
roads and streets as the youth and the young-at-heart converged to
catch a glimpse of the stars and enjoy the evening.
The
expectant crowd had been promised a great show by the likes of Tu-Face
Idibia, D-Banj, Eedris Abdulkareem, P-Square and the crooners did not
disappoint as they roused the spirits of their fans with some of their
wave-making hit songs.
The
celebrant, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole; Secretary to the State Government,
Dr Simon Imuekemhe, Senator Domingo Obende, a number of civil
commissioners including Prince Clem Agba, Mr Louis Odion, Ms Jemitola
Anena, Mr John Inegbedion, Sir Didi Adodo, Mr Anselm Ojezua, among
others and guests which included Dr Raymond Dokpesi, Chairman, Daar
Communications, owners of Raypower & AIT; Mr. Fanny Amun, U-17 World
Cup winning coach, Mr Stephen Keshi, Super Eagles Coach, Rt Hon Thomas
Okosun, ACN Chairman, Edo State among a host of others were brought to
their feet as they showed their latest dance steps, which was almost
turned into a dancing competition.
The Governor and the SSG really stole the show on the high table with their trendy dance steps.
Governor
Oshiomhole, who joined some of the artists on stage not only showed off
his latest celebration dance steps which he has been practicing for
some time but also proved that he is not out of sync with happenings in
the entertainment industry as he joined the artistes and stars to sing
some of the hit songs dished out.
He
also exhibited his rare singing talent, as he, at various times, joined
Eedris Abdulkareem, Timaya, P-Square SKO, Osayomore Joseph, and
Bolivia, among others on stage to sing with his sonorous soprano voice
to the admiration and applause of the people (music producers, please
take note. Another undiscovered music star lurks at the Government
House, Benin City).
The
ecstatic crowd who cheered all night were full of praises to the
Governor for bringing the top stars to perform for them free-of-charge.
They hailed the Governor, chanted his name and cheered whenever
Oshiomhole’s name was mentioned by the artistes.
Among
the top artistes who performed at the 3rd anniversary concert were
Nowamagbe, Osayomore Joseph, Maleke, Da Prince, The Splash, Tu-Face
Idibia, D’Banj, P-Square, Eedris Abdulkareem, Timaya, Mo Cheedah, SKO,
