Ex-Militants Protest Non-Payment of Allowances in Benin

Hundreds of ex-militants, yesterday in Benin City, Edo State, staged a peaceful protest over alleged non-payment of their 18 months' allowance. They called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately remove his Special Adviser on Niger Delta Matters, Mr. Kingsely Kuku.

The former militants, who alleged that they were under the Phase II Programme for rehabilitation of ex-militants, stormed the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, secretariat in Benin City, with placards bearing various inscriptions, such as "Justice Must Prevail, We Need Our Money," "Kingsley Kuku Must Go," "11 months, no payment, We need our Money," among others.

Emomomemi Ezebri and Julius Bank, who spoke on behalf of their colleagues, blamed their plight on Mr. Kuku.

Cheating wife jailed for 23 years after offering two men sex to kill her husband

A cheating wife has been sentenced to life in prison after recruiting two men she met in a bar to murder her wealthy husband to get his 1million fortune.

Charlotte Collinge, 45, took two men back to the 400,000 house she shared with her husband -- Clifford Collinge, 17 years her senior, with the promise of sex.

As they approached the detached property, she told the pair - Stephen Shreeves, 40, and Kelvin Dale, 27, that she 'hated' her husband, and asked if they knew anyone that could kill him.

Once there, the men launched a savage attack on the 61-year-old retired newsagent which left him with 46 separate injuries.

Collinge, who was out of the house at the time buying cocaine, returned to the house to find her husband lying in a pool of blood - but stepped over his body instead of calling an ambulance.

Help was only summoned half-an-hour later by a worried friend of 44-year-old Collinge who she had spoken to on the phone.

Prosecutors said that if there had not been a delay in dialling 999, Mr Collinge may have survived.

Following a four-week trial, a jury of five women and seven men found Collinge, Shreeves and Dale guilty of Mr Collinges murder.

Collinge was today jailed for a minimum of 23 years, while Stephen Shreeves, 40, and Kelvin Dale, 27, were each jailed for 18 years.

SHOCKING!!! Parents Now Sell Their Children For N4000 In Makurdi

The Quick Response Group Team of the Nigerian Army in Lokoja has arrested a human trafficking suspect, Sunday Agbo from Benue State, revealing to journalists that trade in children from Makurdi is now an industry.

According to the commandant of Army Record, Major General Alphonso Chukwu, investigations reveal that Agbo has been 'securing' children for sums ranging from N4,000 to N5,000 by telling their parents he is getting them jobs as domestic helps in Lagos.

While presenting the suspect to journalists on Friday, Major Chukwu said he was arrested with 10 children six boys and four girls aged seven to 19 on Thursday along the Itobe-Ajaokuta road. He was in a ash colour Toyota Camry car with the registration number CW 322 LSD, headed to Lagos.

When the suspect was confronted by the men of the Quick Response Group, he first claimed the children belonged to him. Interrogation later led to a confession that they were given to him by a Madam Janet Akpa, an agent from the same village who asked him to deliver the children to another agent in Lagos.

One of the children, Blessing Jacob, who said she had just finished an examination to SSS 2 said she was told to follow the suspect to Lagos only for holidays and temporary work.

Man shoots his two children, then commits suicide

What could drive a man to shoot his 7-year-old child? We might never know, but sadly occurrences like this one keep making us wonder.

A 41-year-old man from Massachusetts in the USA has shot his two children, killing the 7-year-old girl before committing suicide. His 9-year-old son is said to be in critical condition in the hospital after taking a bullet to the head. The man, Daryl Benway had recently separated from his wife though they were not divorced.

A family member had called the police, Saturday night, after finding the bodies in a bedroom in their house in Worcester County District. According to Joseph Early Jr., an attorney, Benway's wife, Kelleen, had returned home after the shootings, unaware of what had happened, when she discovered a group of police officers and news reporters. She was then taken to the children's hospital, where she was informed of what had happened.

"It doesn't get much worse than this," Early said. "It's a horrible scene, a horrible situation" A neighbour of the family described Benway as "the most happy-go-lucky guy." "I just dont see him doing that," she said.

A childhood friend, Michael Courtemanche said, "They were excellent, a good family. Just like any other family, they had problems. But Daryl was always friendly, always in a good mood."

Shina Rambo Returns!!!

Shina Rambo returns to the parks... not the rapper but the REPENTED former robbery kingpin, who terrorised the South West in the 1990s and now leading a prison ministry, Omokenwa a.k.a. Shina Rambo, is leading a power crusade to get rid of the Lagos Island criminals and miscreants who on a daily bases make life unbearable for people in the central business district of the commercial capital of the country.

A statement by the pastor in charge of the Lagos branch of Word of Life Bible Church, Lagos, Pastor Segun Braimoh, said the Lagos Island Power Crusade with the  theme: "Divine Visitation", is scheduled for August 2-4, 2012 and it will hold at the popular Oluwole Park, a reclaimed area of Lagos erstwhile regarded as the centre for forging all kinds of documents.

According to Braimoh, Evangelist Shina Rambo, whose real name is Omokenwa, has agreed to share his testimony of conversion at the three-day event and preach the undiluted Word of God with a view to winning the souls of the area boys in Lagos Island for Christ and enthrone a regime of peace in the area.

Coincidentally, the main preacher at the crusade is  a  retired police officer, ASP Udeh Sunday, who at one time was in charge at Robbery Squad in Lagos and there will be two special prayer sessions for Lagos State and businesses in the state. He will be joined by the host, Braimoh, while the TLC Praise Choir will minister.

Braimoh confirmed that the Oba of Lagos plans  to send delegates from the palace.
In a telephone conversation yesterday, the former robbery kingpin, who claimed that his father hailed from Abeokuta, Ogun State, while his mother was from Sabongida-Ora, Edo State where he was raised and recruited into criminal activities.

Rambo reminded  that after terrorising the South west in 1990s, he gave himself up to the police, convicted and was released from prison after serving 11 years at Agodi Prison, Ibadan. According to him, he met the Lord miraculously through a chance encounter in prison with Prophet T.O Obadare and since then his life had not remained the same, and had a prison ministration.

In a recent interview, he advised the Federal Government to tap from the "wealth of experience of people like us who can decode a lot of knotty issues as regards how to curb the menace of armed robbery. Some of those inside the prison are not supposed to be there. By the time they are out, they become hardened criminals."

He therefore prayed that God will make things work in this country, "If He could locate me from the pit of darkness where I sojourned, and now in Christ, He will deliver the country from bad leaders who make things difficult for the masses, he added."

"BE A CHRISTIAN OR DIE POOR" - Bishop Oyedepo Tells His Muslim Sister

The presiding bishop and founder of the Living Faith Christian Church International, better known as Winners' Chapel, Bishop David Eniola Oyedepo is not new to controversy. As he was recently sued for assault on one of his church members he was conducting deliverance for, the case has however been dismissed.

Though he seems like a man that can tolerate others, it is surprising that the man cannot hide his disdain for the Islamic religion which was evident when little Abdul-Gafar Ayomide Salami, a young Nigerian student seeking admission to Oyedepo church owned Covenant University was denied admission despite having all required qualifications, just because he is a Muslim.

If what he did to little Abdul-Gafar is thought to be anything serious, his disposition towards his half-sister, Alhaja Saratu Bello who refuses to become a Christian after every method implored by Oyedepo to convert her failed. He swore not to have anything to do with her until she changes her religion to Christianity. The sister in question is being treated like the black sheep of the family and the bishop has forbidden everybody from helping her.

The sister who lives in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos is living in abject poverty and finds it difficult to feed while her other siblings are living in affluence. Those who know her doubt her story of being related to the man who can be said to be the richest pastor in Africa.

The man of God who is the surviving one of a set of twins after a prolonged delay in having a fruit of the womb by the late mother was born into a Muslim family of Pa Oyedepo in Omu-Aran. David Oyedepo was instrumental in the conversion of his father to becoming a Christian, a thing the father agreed to when he was very old after which he was baptized by his own son before death.

Truth About Chris Okotie's Embattled Wife And Her Marital Woes

The marriage of Reverend Christopher Okotie with Stephanie Henshaw however hit the rock a couple of weeks ago,it obviously got public on June, 24, 2012.

According to what Encomium magazine reported; unknown to many, except very close friends, Stephanie Adie Henshaw has never been married before Reverend Christopher Okotie in the true sense of the word.

The mother of three kids from two men has rather been a victim of abuse and ill-luck with a chequered history of marital woes that ended up breaking into pieces her fragile heart.

Stephanie's first love before Okotie came into the picture was a young man she met through a friend in Lagos. With no intention of marriage, being quite young then, the innocent Calabar girl, unfortunately got pregnant for the man.

She was still carrying his baby when he was shot to death in Surulere, Lagos.

"The pain they inflicted on Stephanie after the death of the father of her first child was unbearable. One day, she was invited by the man's people to know how the child was faring. And before she knew what was happening, they took custody of the child. She never set eyes on the boy until two, three years ago," a highly reliable source told ENCOMIUM Weekly.

We further learnt that Stepahnie's son was taken to England where he schooled before returning to the country. He has since reunited with his mom.

Stephanie Henshaw's affair with one businessman, Mazi Okechukwu (Okey) was totally built on deceit which was not initially to the knowledge of the ravishingly beautiful lady.

"Stephanie didn't know that Okey was a fraud. Okey told her he was not married. He was building a house back then in Omole Estate. Okey had rent a house for Stephanie in Ikeja, Lagos. And each time he sneaked out to see his first wife and children, he would say he had gone to see his mother. The day she found out the truth, she literally fainted," our source revealed.

It was in-between this affair that produced two sons that Rev.Okotie, who had been admiring Stephanie from a distance started walking into her life.

ENCOMIUM Weekly learnt she was naturally pissed off with the Igbo businessman and literally needed a man she could call hers. From what we were told, Okotie staked his reputation, and risked his life to have Stephanie.

"He really loved Stephanie. There was
nothing he wouldn't do for her. Okotie had cause to jump a fence for the sake of this love. Of course, you already know, he was attacked physically on several occasions all for Stephanie."

"It was this same Okey that smashed Okotie's windscreen and all that. He, however, had to give up when it was obvious that Stephanie was no longer interested in the relationship. After all, there was no marriage to be dissolved,
since there was none in the first place".

A born again Christian for almost 20 years, we were informed that Stephanie has always known God despite her marital woes.

Our source who had known Stephanie for many years warned those castigating her to maintain their cool. She even threatened to open up on many more issues relating to her four year marriage to Rev. Okotie if pushed to the wall.

Before now, the impression engraved in people's consciousness was that Stephanie was a widow and divorcee. an allegation her close friends and family members are now making serious effort to debunk.

Relatedly, more facts are beginning to emerge, throwing more light on the remote and immediate circumstances that contributed to the crash of her marriage to Household of God's Chris Okotie on Sunday, June 24,2012.

Information at our disposal has it that Stephanie was not going to church as often as she was supposed to as pastor's wife. She had also been accused of being stubborn, while another wicked allegation they fired at her had to do with bi-sexualism.

Rev. Chris Okotie's image maker, Mr. Ladi Ayodeji, in his response to ENCOMIUM Weekly's inquiries on the issue that same day said they have no comment on any issue related to Okotie/Stephanie marriage break-up.

"We have nothing to say on this issue. Please go ahead and write whatever that pleases you."

Meanwhile, Rev. Okotie is yet to say anything about why his marriage to Stephanie surprisingly crashed. He said nothing on the issue at the Wednesday (July 11, 2012), Household of God's midweek service.

That was also the situation on Sunday, July 15, 202. The charismatic preacher, who adorned a black trouser, white shirt and checked coat concentrated on the message of the day which centered on Gods power of delivery.

And as has been the situation since he separated from his wife, the church was also filled to capacity. Before the church dismissed around 1.30, members born in July were not able to present a drama, No Gossip in the House, which they had earlier announced that Sunday service.

July 22, 2012 marks the fifth Sunday Okotie's marriage of four years to Efik, Cross River born Stephanie Adie Henshaw crashed. Nothing officially has come from the couple as regards their marital crisis.

Reverend Okotie has maintained calculated silence on the matter since his announcement on June 24. while Stephanie only made references to her marital travails in a recent Facebook update.

Team Senegal dent Uruguay's 84 years Olympics record

Moussa Konate scored two first-half goals as 10-man Senegal handed Uruguay their first-ever Olympic defeat in a 2-0 win on Sunday. Uruguay, which could have clinched the group with a victory, was unbeaten in winning back-to-back Olympic titles in 1924 and 1928 the last time it played in the competition.

Konate tapped in the rebound from Cheikhou Kouyate's saved header for an easy 10th-minute opener in front of 76,071 spectators at Wembley Stadium.

Uruguay's defence was left flat-footed again on Konate's second in the 37th when five defenders watched him head home a corner seven minutes after defender Abdoulaye Ba was red carded for tripping up Luis Suarez.

Konate has scored three goals at London 2012 for Olympics debutante Senegal, which lead Group A with four points from two games. Two-time Olympic champion Uruguay have three points going into their last game against hosts Britain. Senegal play their last game against the United Arab Emirates.

"I am not in a hurry to get married" - Olu Maintain

Olumide Adegbulu, aka Olu Maintain is one of Nigeria's finest music acts on the block, He however has been on the 'eligible bachelors' list long enough not to notice that many ripe and eager damsels have been longing to marry him and carry his baby.

Olu Maintain himself has the answer. He says he is still searching for the woman of his dream

"It is every sane man's dream to marry the woman that will make his life complete, but I've not found her yet. Just because others are getting married or making babies outside wedlock does not mean I should also join the bandwagon. Making babies or marriage is not my first priority."

The Jackson Family Chronicles - Everything We Know

When it comes to the Jackson family, the last several days have played out very much like a soap opera.

Although, let's face it, this ongoing saga is probably a heck of lot more interesting (and dare we say entertaining) than anything you would see on daytime TV.

That being said, it can sometimes be a wee bit confusing to follow.
Fortunately, that's where we come in with a rundown of everything we know so far.

The Jackson Family Chronicles - Everything we know

Katherine Jackson seeks co-guardianship of Jackson kids

July 17: Michael Jackson's siblings Janet, Jermaine, Rebbie, Tito and Randy fire off an angry letter to the two men overseeing the late King of Pop's estate, accusing them of fraud when it comes to their brother's will, saying, "Without question, it's Fake, Flawed and Fraudulent." An estate spokesman dismisses such a claim, telling E! News: "Any doubts about the validity of Michael's will and his selection of executors were thoroughly and completely debunked two years ago when a challenge was rejected by the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the California Court of Appeals and, finally, the California Supreme Court."

July 21: Katherine Jackson, the mother of Michael Jackson, is reported missing by the 82-year-old matriarch's nephew, Trent, saying she has not been heard from in a week. The next day, however, Katherine's son Jermaine Jackson as well as the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirm that Katherine is resting with family members in Arizona.

July 23: Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies pay a visit to Katherine's Calabasas home after a physical altercation takes place there. Photos from the scene show Michael's siblings Janet and Jermaine present, while a source confirms to E! News that the third member involved was Randy. Katherine's attorney says, "Following the incident, it was learned that one of the family members who was part of the ambush admitted that a plan has been in place for the last three years to remove Katherine Jackson from her home and her beloved grandchildren [Prince, Paris and Blanket]." Katherine has been the kids' legal guardian since Michael's death in 2009.
Tito's daughter calls feud "a load of crap"

July 24: Tito backs down from family plot targeting Michael's will. "I completely retract my signature from the July 17th letter sent to the Executors of my brother Michael's estate and repudiate all the claims made against them," he said in statement. "I don't want any part of that letter whatsoever." Meanwhile, T.J. Jackson, Tito's son, plans to seek temporary guardianship of Michael's three children.

July 24: Michael Jackson's brother Marlon breaks down and walks off during an interview while talking about his mother Katherine's whereabouts. "We've been told our mother is safe," Marlon tells The Insider while sitting alongside brothers Tito and Jackie. "She's doing well. But we have not spoken with her. We have not talked with her and I don't know where my mother is." He proceeds to storm off tearfully.

July 25: Following an emergency court hearing in Los Angeles, Katherine temporarily loses custody of her three grandchildren. Michael's nephew T.J. is appointed temporary guardian after Paris and Prince consent to being in T.J.'s custody in the absence of their grandmother.
A who's who guide to the Jackson family feud

July 25: Katherine speaks out in a taped statement to ABC News. "I am here today to let everybody know that I am fine and I am here with my children, and my children would never do a thing to me like that, holding me against my will. It's very stupid for people to think that," adding she is "devastated" over the loss of custody of her grandchildren.

July 26: Katherine arrives back to her Calabasas, Calif., home. "grandma's here! #thankyougod," Paris tweets. "5 hours of sleep last night, been awake for 23... time to #hibernate." Brother Prince expresses his frustration regarding all the drama surrounding his family. "As long as I can remember my dad had repeatedly warned me of certain people and their ways," he tweets. "Although I am happy my grandma was returned, after speaking with her I realized how misguided and how badly she was lied to. I'm really angry and hurt."
Paris Jackson tweets happily about grandma Katherine's return; brother Prince slams family drama

July 26: Tanay Jackson, Tito's daughter, tells E! News the whole family feud is "a lot of crap." As for Katherine temporarily losing custody, she says: "Me, personally, I don't think she should continue watching the kids. I just feel like she needs a rest. I feel like she does not need to be under the stress of the whole situation."

July 27: Attorney for Katherine tells E! News he plans to file paperwork on her behalf next week seeking a joint guardianship for Michael Jackson's three children between Katherine and T.J. Jackson.

Meanwhile, Dr. Conrad Murray, the cardiologist serving a four-year sentence after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael, invites Katherine to visit him in jail. According to CNN, Murray's lawyers extended the invite on his behalf saying Murray wanted to help bring peace to Katherine by answering "any questions she might have."

"I Am The First Person To Successfully Rap And Sing" - Drake

Rapper and Singer Drake isn't the first to fuse singing and rapping into his songs, but he considers himself the first person to be successful at it. During an interview with The Jewish Chronicle, the Young money rapper made the claim that he managed to one-up previously successful artists with the style.

"There were people who incorporated melody before me," said Drake, "but I would deem myself the first person to successfully rap and sing."

Drizzy says that his singing-meets-rapping style has had a trickledown effect in the Hip Hop community. "Yes, there are aspects of it that are new in the rap world. But it's not a gimmick. I just sort of exist and people embrace it. I'm one of the few artists who gets to be himself every day. It doesn't take me six hours to get ready and I don't have to wake up in the morning and remember to act like this or talk like this. I just have to be me. That's one of the favourite parts of my life - I've done this purely by being myself."

"AM NOT INTO MUSIC FOR THE MONEY" - OMOTOLA

Sultry actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has hit back at rumours that her 'famous' appearance at the 2011 Grammy awards was a publicity stunt.

In an exclusive chat with Nigerian Entertainment Today, Omotola says she was invited and hosted by the organisers of the awards, in recognition of her humanitarian activities. According to her, one of her songs, Barren Land was adopted by Amnesty International which they are currently using for their campaign.

'Universal Studios actually sent that song to the Grammys in Atlanta and they liked the song and they did an investigation on me and the kind of work I have been doing in the past with the UN and all, then I was invited as an African singer who is doing a lot with charity. I was there in that capacity' she said.

Speaking on why she is yet to release another album six years after the first, Omotola her desire for perfection is the reason why her new body of work is not yet released, two years after its completion.

'I'm still shooting videos now but if it is not right, I won't push it out. My first album was a success but this time, I just think that it's a work of art, I want to make sure it's relevant even in the next ten years. If I was about making money, I would have given it to a marketer... I'm not doing music because I want the money back' she said.

According to her, the new album will be titled 'Me, Myself and Eyes', and will have a feel of rock and pop.

The new LP, we're told, will be released before the end of the year on the Universal Studios imprint.

Omotola Jalade started acting in 1995 in the movie 'Venom of Justice' and has since acted in over 200 movies with numerous awards to her credit. Her latest movie appearance is in the highly anticipated 'Last flight from Abuja' which premieres this August.

Rihanna and Chris Brown hook up secretly

Rihanna and Chris Brown can’t seem to get over themselves, at least reports of their recent ‘secret hook-up’ over the weekend suggest so.
The Bajan singer and Brown are said to have spent a romantic evening on a huge yacht in the South of France.

Reports say Chris Brown flew out to see Rihanna when he heard love rival and rapper Drake was joining her for a holiday. Drake and Chris Brown weeks ago were involved in a brawl that left Chris with a bleeding jaw

Chris is staying on the yacht next to Rihanna’s. He’s got rappers Swizz Beatz and Ludacris with him and they’ve decided to film a music video too’, a source told The Sun.
It was a last-minute trip, but Chris wanted to see Rihanna. They have this weird addiction to each other and can’t seem to stay away’.

In 2009, Chris Brown was arrested for assaulting Rihanna. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and six months of community service.

"I Never Thought I'll Get This Far" - DAVIDO

He is just 19 years, yet he looms larger than life. In less than two years of his entry into the music industry, David Adedeji Adeleke a.k.a. Davido has become one of the most celebrated musicians in the country.
He recently shared his story with Vanguard Entertainment.

The last time I saw you on stage was at the finals of the Nigerian Idol. Between then and now, so many things have changed, can you explain why?
Jesus. If I could explain, then I’d be lying because everything happened fast. But one thing I’d always tell myself is that; I remember exactly a year ago at Eko Hotel. I was at Ice Prince’s album launch and I told myself that I too must do same thing. So I had to work hard.
I’ve been working hard and prayed for God to bless me with hit songs because I know that when you have God and support like good structures, then, everything will fall in place. To me, whoever God wants to blow will blow.

This whole thing; did you expect it to be this big?
I didn’t expect it to be this big at all. When I first started in the industry, I used to tell myself that I don’t want to be too big. I just want to be in the industry and don’t want to be known too much. But after some time, I started getting bigger and people could recognize me anywhere I go. It’s just crazy. It comes with a lot of benefits though. Like at first, my father didn’t want me to go into music. But now, anywhere both of us go, people call him Baba Omo Olowo.

So, he didn’t want you to go into music?
No he didn’t. He was 100% against me. He just wanted me to focus on education. But after my music became big, he goes to parties and hears my songs. With this music I have been traveling everywhere; I traveled to like seven countries in just six months.

With just one song?
Yes.

What has changed?
(laughs). My house…

You just bought a new car…
Yes. What has also changed is that people take me more serious now. At first, my family didn’t take me serious but now, they do. I feel I now have a job, a profession. So it feels really good that I’m doing something where I make money from.

How did it all start?
It started about two years ago at Atlanta Georgia, I was schooling in America for about two years.

Studying what?
I was studying Business Administration and I remember when I came home for Christmas one December, I saw how crazy the industry was getting and I was amazed. I saw the likes of D’banj, Wande Coal, P-Square getting shows for millions. I knew I’m also talented too so I decided to give it a try. So I came back to the country. But when I came back, it was very rough for me. My dad was against my music

You left school?
Yes. I left school in America

To follow your dream?
Yes. But I’m back in school running a part- time programme. One thing I told my dad was that even if I’m not in school, he should allow me do part-time. So that’s what I’m doing now. So when I moved back, it was hard for me. I survived by chilling with Shank, Wande Coal, D’banj and even Don Jazzy who supported me until I dropped my first single. I couldn’t go back home then.

You couldn’t go back home?
It’s not as if I couldn’t go back home. I wasn’t at home. If I was at home, I’d have to be in school. So that’s why my dad and I were not on speaking terms for like a month. But one day, he just called me and told me he wouldn’t want to take my dreams away from me.
He said he dreamt that music is my dream and told me that if I have to do it, then I have to do it right. He challenged me to make it big. And I can say he’s one of my biggest fans now.

You wrote the song?
Yes.

What inspired that song?
I was trying to tell folks like my dad not to stop me from doing my music because everybody was trying to stop me.

Are you sure you are not into this for the money?
No it’s not for the money. I don’t know what happened, I remember when we recorded that song, my house was quiet for like two days because the song touched everyone in my family. Everyone, including our cook all said the song was going to blow. I played it for my dad and he told me it’s a hit. So we dropped it around late November. And from then, I can’t even remember what happened, because so much has happened so fast.

But it was a slow start initially…
Yes. It was a slow start. But like I said, I don’t know what happened. If I have to start explaining, I’d be lying. It’s all God’s doing.

So how do people see you on the street?
It’s crazy. At every show I go to, I have like sixty to seventy Area Boys following me and my car. Every where I go people want to have handshakes with me, some would say “Davido I love you,” some would just want to touch me.

How do you control the girls?
I’ve always been getting girls even before music. But it’s always about self control and knowing what you want to do. You can have fun everyday if you choose to. But at the end of the day, you know what you have to do.

So what’s been the most embarrassing moment for you with girls and the fans?
It was my picture that went viral. The one that showed up in Ghana.

Was it really your picture?
Yes.

So why did you let down your guard?
I was sleeping, when the photographs were taken and that’s it.

And what did you do to the girl after that?
Nothing.

Is she still with you?
I don’t know where she is.

Thought you are signed on to D’banj’s label, now you’re talking about HKN. Is that also D’banj’s label?
D’banj and I work together but HKN is my label. We recorded the album on HKN label

What’s HKN?
Hakkan in Arabics meaning King Of Kings. It’s mine and my brother’s label. D’banj and I are business partners and he’s my big brother.

So you’re not signed unto his label?
Wait and see.

Surprises?
Just wait and see.

But you’re doing it with Flytime. Why did you choose Flytime?
Because Cecil promised he’s going to do my album launch if I could get him a hit record. I promised him I was going to come back to him with deal; a hit record. Today it’s a deal come true.

And you have a new one, Ekuro?
Yes.

Beautiful song
God bless you

But it’s not particularly new. It’s like a folk song from somewhere…
Yes. I was in the car one day with my consultant and he was playing some old school songs. When I heard it, I thought about doing something in that direction. So I just put it in my own way.

So what do we expect on Sunday?
It’s going to be crazy. Expect it to be one of the greatest shows in Lagos ever. We’ve planned for it from acting to everything. It’ll feature acts like Tuface, P-Square, D’banj and everyone that counts in the game.

What’s growing up like?
I wouldn’t say growing up was sweet but thank God I have wonderful parents who brought me up. My mum passed away when I was ten. So from then, it was just my father and I

He never re-married?
Yes, he re-married.

You schooled in Lagos?
Yes for some time and then went to America for two years for my University until I decided to come back.

So why did you decide to shoot your new video Ekuro in America and not in Lagos?
I went to America because I want my music to be international. Right now I’m planning to shoot my next video in Sudan.

Why Sudan?
You’ll know when the video comes out.

Do you have a visa to Sudan?
When we get to the bridge we’ll find a way across. I’m an American citizen remember.

Why did you choose Sudan?
Because there are deserts there.

What message are you trying to pass across with such video?
You’ll see it.

Now, how many tracks do you have in your new album?
I have about seventeen tracks

…And you worked with how many producers?
I worked with five of them, big names like Chizee, J Sleek, Dr. Frabz, myself and one other person.

How many collabos?
About four- with May D, Tuface, Naeto C and myself

Has anything changed in the music industry since you came on board?
I’ve only been here for a year. The technology is growing. We have things like Twitter, Facebook and different things, that were not there in the past.

I need to know what happened that led to your being slapped by a policeman?
Nothing really happened. I was just on my bed going through the internet and I saw the story. I was amazed. I didn’t get slapped.

You weren’t anywhere around there?
No. I wasn’t. I was in Lagos but the story said I was in Abuja.

So how did that make you feel?
I don’t care because it didn’t happen but people would always talk.

Robbers caught after renewing charm for bullet penetration

LAGOS State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious robbery gang that have been on its wanted list, recovering five AK 47 riffles and nine magazines. The gang that specialized in operating in almost all the parts of the country, reportedly started as an eight-man gang. But two of them have reportedly been killed in separate shoot-outs.

The arrested suspects who were paraded before journalists at the Lagos State Police Command, weekend, did not mince words in revealing their separate roles in the gang. One of them, Wale Adeniyi, revealed that he was the gang’s hit man.
27-year-old Taofeek Bukola said he was the gang’s driver while 20 year-old Oladun Agemo declared himself as the gang’s armourer. Luck ran against them while returning from a herbalist’s home where they had gone to renew their charms on the penetration of bullets, before going on an operation in Ogun State.

In this interview with Crime Alert, Taoffek said he was tempted to join the gang because of his inability to get money for his mother’s medical bill. He claimed that he lost his father years back, leaving his mother to cater for him and his four siblings.
But along the line, he said his mother had a mental problem which confined her to a herbalist’s home. Since then, he said he had to cater for himself, his wife, two children and his siblings. But meeting some of the financial obligations of his mother, like buying of herbs and other things was the most tasking.

He said: “As a result of this, I would work in the bakery until 6am and then work as commercial bus driver, shuttling between Oshodi and Iyana-Ipaja. Yet I could not meet up, as I normally got N1500 to N2000 everyday, which I used to feed my family. Then three months ago, I met Akin who introduced me to the gang. My job was to drive them to the venue of the operation, wait in the car while they went in and drive immediately they came out.

“So far, I have gone on operations in Ibadan, Ogun and Akure with them. In the first operation, I was given N150,000 and in another one I was given N70,000 while in the third one I was given N100,000. The money shared at the end of each operation depended on how much we realized in the operation. We usually operated with information. We don’t just go to anybody’s house.

“On the day of our arrest, I drove them to Ado where they said they were going to renew their ‘ijaya’(charm to instill fear on their victims) and also that which will not make bullet to penetrate into them. It was on our way back to Otta that we were arrested.”
Asked where he got money to buy the vehicle, he said he got it from the sale of his mother’s family plots, regretting that he was likely going to die. When 20-year-old Oladun Agemo was approached, he simply stated that he was the gang’s armourer, and that he had never gone on any operation with them.

He said: “They only give me their guns to keep at the end of each operation. When they come to keep it, they would give me N4000 and at times N5000. The guns are owned by Akin. He is the president of the gang. I met them when they came to have their hair cut because I am a barber.”
Asked what lured him into the gang since he at least, had a means of livelihood, he kept quiet, then said: “I regret everything now. The money I got was used only to eat. I did not even use it to buy a car. My only pain is that my four-day old son may not grow up to know his father because as it is, I do not know if I will come out of this alive.”

The third suspect, Wale Adeniyi, who could barely talk owing to the excruciating pains from the bullet wounds he sustained during exchange of fire with the police, said he was the gang’s hit man.
The 28-year-old Akure born who seems to have spent longer time with the gang than his colleagues, said he was into smuggling business at the border before joining the gang. Although he did not say exactly how many lives he has wasted during operation, he only maintained he was the gang’s best hit man.

Gang’s best hit man
He said: “Whenever we were going for an operation, I was usually given a riffle first before any other person. This was because of my boldness. It was Akin, our leader who introduced me into the gang.”

At this point, he kept quiet, clinching his teeth in pains. After a while, he shook his head, signifying he could not talk again. He tried to lift up his leg where he sustained the gun shot wound but could not. After a while, he laid on the floor and said:
“I knew this day will come. But what I did not know was how soon. When it clocked one year of my joining the gang, I started thinking of leaving them and returning to my smuggling business because I was getting tired of always watching my back in fear all the time. And to think that a policeman once warned me to leave this business, oh God, it is regrettable.”

He managed to say he got N400,000 to N600,000 in some of the operations with the least amount being N100,000, adding that his greed to have more led him to his end. Efforts to further get more information from him failed as he just gave a blank stare, apparently unsure of police next move.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, said the police was still carrying out a manhunt for other members of the gang. The command, he said, was taking proactive strategic measures to curb criminal activities in the state by taking the war to robbers hideouts.

You hear some things and you shake your head. Our former first lady, Turai Yar'Adua and current first lady, Patience Jonathan took themselves to court over a property they are both squabbling over. And to save the country from further embarrassment, the Attorney General of the Federation has asked the court handling the case to discontinue further hearing on the case.

The property in dispute is located in the central business district of Abuja and was originally allocated to a Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, “The Registered Trustee of Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation, WYEF”, a pet project initiated by Turai Yar’Adua.
