A female corps member from Edo State, Shemahu Momodu, has been delivered
of a baby girl on the first day of registration at Katsina State
orientation camp.
The state NYSC coordinator, Mr Ebenezer Afolalu, who disclosed this
at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2012 batch "B" corps members, on
Wednesday, said the corps member gave birth at the camp clinic.
Afolalu said the female corps member was delivered of the baby girl
by some batch "B" corps doctors, who assisted to ensure the stability of
both mother and child before being referred to the Federal Medical
Centre, Katsina.
He said out of the 2,500 corps members deployed to the state, so
far, 1,383 male and 761 female corps members had reported at the close
of registration at the orientation camp.
The state NYSC boss said during the period of the orientation
exercise, corps members would undergo paramilitary training,
entrepreneurship development programme and lectures, as well as drills
in martial arts.
