54 Year Old Woman Commits Suicide In Ibadan

A 54 year old woman, Oluwabunmi Oluwafemi, in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital, has committed
suicide. She was declared missing by her family over the weekend, however the body of the
mother of 4 was found hanging on a tree beside the popular Gada-Odo/Ona River on Monday. Ms. Oluwafemi who used to reside in Bembo, Apata area of Ibadan, was said to have gone to spend the weekend with her first child, Opeyemi Oluwafemi, in Olugbode, Odo-Ona area of the town before the calamity.

On Friday night, Mr. Oluwafemi attended a church vigil. At the break of dawn, he returned home and found that his mother was missing.

"I return home from vigil and discovered her absence at home, hence, a report of her missing was made known to the police, but three days later after a search party, we discovered her corpse hanging on the tree here," he said.

Mr. Oluwafemi and other members of his family immediately organized a search party and reported the missing case to the police. But on Monday, the woman was found dead having hung herself on a tree.

The deceased's son, Mr. Olufemi, said his mother never showed any sign that she will kill herself. Another relative, Caroline Ayodele, who wept profusely also expressed shock over the development, adding that there did not seem to
be a reason for late Ms. Oluwafemi to have committed suicide.

At the scene of the suicide, efforts were being made by some plain clothes policemen to bring down the corpse. Also many residents were seen trooping to the scene in order to catch a glimpse of the corpse.
